Lodge Chief Update August 19

by: John Bisbee on

Greetings Arrowmen!

What an amazing month of August!  Not only did 67 arrowmen attend the Centennial National Order of the Arrow Conference at Michigan State University, but we also held our Fall Conclave and inducted 45 brand new Ordeal Members at Ft. Abraham Lincoln State Park in Mandan, ND!  To all of our new Ordeal Members from Eastern Spring Conclave, Western Spring Conclave, and Fall Conclave, Congratulations, and I look forward to seeing you at our many events in the coming year!

Our new Ordeal Members provided so much service back to both our council camp and other State Parks!  At Camp Wilderness, we assisted in the building of the brand new Frisbee Golf Course, planted trees, and helped tear down the retaining wall at the Waterfront!  At Ft. Buford State Historic Site, we helped clear brush in areas surrounding the site and make them usable for the summer!  At Ft. Lincoln, members helped tear down a fence and plant trees to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of State Parks in North Dakota!

As many of you, myself included, get ready to attend another semester of school, we should always remember to try our very hardest to accomplish our goals.  I encourage all of you to set goals and work to achieve them throughout the year!  To get us started, here are my goals for my next semester at college:

-Pass Music Theory IV, completing the Music Theory requirements for my degree

-Prepare at least three pieces for a Junior Oboe Recital to take place in January/February 2016.

-Improve my reed making skills for Oboe and start making reeds for English Horn

I encourage all of you to set goals and not stop until you achieve them!

We have many great events coming up in our Centennial year!  Section Conclave (September 11-13, Lewis and Clark Scout Camp), LLD (October 16-18, Army Aviation Support Facility, Bismarck, ND), and December Indian Winter (Date and Location TBD) are just a few of our events left in 2015.  I hope to see you at one of them!

Thank you all for a great 2015, let's keep up the great work!
