A Day in the Life of a Lodge Chief - Weekends

by: John Bisbee on

The weekends are always a great time in my life!

I spend my time doing laundry, buying groceries, and catching up on all of my homework!  I still practice quite a bit, on average four hours a day, but get a bit more time to relax in my day.

I often perform with either the Bismarck/Mandan Symphony Orchestra or the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra during the weekends.  I’ve played some great repertoire with these groups, including a transcription of Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in d minor,” Rachmoninov’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” and Tschaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” just to name a few.  I also perform in multiple University of Mary ensembles, including Concert Band, Concert Choir, Oboe Ensemble, and Woodwind Quintet.  We often perform on weekends.  I’ve also participated in many community ensembles, including playing oboe for Handel’s “Messiah” in 2014!

I also travel quite a bit over the weekends.  You can usually find me going around and visiting some great friends in Dickinson and Harvey, ND, as well as Plentywood, MT! When I’m not going on a road trip, I’ll be working away at my computer, getting things ready for another awesome week ahead!
