Winter Fellowship 2009

A great weekend of Fun and Fellowship

Winter Fellowship 2009 was held at the Butler Wilderness Outpost at Camp Wilderness on Jan 9 - 11, 2009. There was great weather -- perfect for sledding and playing outdoors.

In the morning, the group went sledding down the very fast Cub Scout Sledding hill. We had races between the Youth Leaders and their advisors -- no clear winner was found, but the left side of the hill was definitely the fastest. After a great lunch, there was some free time where people played checkers or just hung around.

In the afternoon, everyone had the chance to work on their own American Indian choker that they were able to take home with them. Shawn Johnston taught everyone the traditions of making a choker and their use in the American Indian culture. Everyone then selected bone pipe and from the assortment of beads available to make their unique choker.

That evening, the Lodge presented the Founders Award to Kevin Helland. The Founders Award is the highest award that a Lodge can award to the an individual. Kevin has served as a Lodge Chief for Pa-Hin as well as a Section Chief of the C1-A Section.

Late at night, a couple of folks went sledding by the moonlight. Eight people went down at once -- proving that it takes exactly one signing of the OA song to reach the bottom of the hill.

Officer Retreat/Leadership Seminar -- October 17 - 19, 2008

Over 30 Leaders within Pa-Hin Lodge joined in fun and some great leadership training. We did everything from playing OA Jeopardy (go team Ch 5!) to setting the Vision for the Lodge. We did that while having fun and getting to work together as a team.

We also got a chance to work as committees; planning Winter Fellowship and working on Ceremonies. We had an LEC, where or Activities Chairman presented information on Winter Fellowship and we looked at some new Pa-Hin merchandise.
